How can laser therapy help my cat's health?

Laser therapy can be a good adjunct care for multiple different conditions, particularly acute injuries and chronic pain.

What is laser therapy?

Laser therapy is light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. A concentrated laser beam enters your cat's cells and stimulates them to make their own chemicals to stimulate healing.

How is laser therapy able to improve the health and well-being of my cat?

Cats are really good at hiding pain, so quite often we don't know what's present until they are very, very sick. Laser therapy can help in the early stages of managing acute pain from arthritis and pain from acute injuries.

What are the main cat illnesses that can benefit from laser therapy?

The main illnesses that can benefit from laser therapy in cats include acute wounds, chronic pain from arthritis, and soft tissue injuries such as muscle sprains and strains.

How many treatments might my cat require if laser therapy is recommended?

The number of treatments that your cat requires will depend on the type of injury or pain that it has. Acute injuries can quite often be managed within six treatments, however, chronic pain such as that from arthritis may need to be ongoing for the life of your cat.

How long will it take for my cat to begin experiencing relief from their symptoms?

Typically we see improved pain and mobility within about 12 hours of their first treatment.

Does my cat need an exam before they're approved for cat laser therapy?

Absolutely. Your cat needs an exam with a veterinarian because not all conditions are appropriate for laser therapy, and we want to make sure we're doing the right thing for your cat.
