As our pets get older, their needs will change. Age is not a disease, but there are many ailments that become more prevalent as dogs and cats enter their senior years:

  • Senior DogArthritis and degenerative joint disease
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Thyroid disease
  • Heart disease
  • Cancer

Early detection and prevention of disease are the hallmarks of a good healthcare strategy for our companions. While some diseases simply cannot be prevented or cured, we can still slow down their progression. Longevity is an important goal, but overall quality of life remains paramount in our approach to chronic disease.

In addition to a thorough physical examination every six months, we may also recommend a blood panel, urinalysis, and/or imaging (x-rays or ultrasound) to gain a better understanding of what is going on inside of your pet. Each dog and cat is unique, and our recommendations are always customized to their individual needs.
